The Environmental Biogeochemistry Research Group

The Environmental Biogeochemistry Research Group is headed by Dr. Peter Jaffé and is part of the Environmental Engineering and Water Resources Program in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University. Our research group studies the interactions between living organisms (e.g. plants and microbes) and elemental cycles, with a focus on the mitigation of human impacts and the remediation of environmental contaminants.

The sytems we study vary widely in scope and scale and include natural and managed wetland ecosystems, urban drainage networks and buried aquifers. To study these systems, we integrate field work with lab work and mathemetical modeling. You can find out more about these projects on our research page.

If you are interested in graduate study with us, you can find more information at the website of the Graduate School. You can also contact Dr. Jaffé by e-mail at (jaffe@princeton.edu).
